Hi, just checked to see what the 'Sunshine' State was on feature. Of course it's the U.S Sunshine state, and not sunny Queensland....... Though it's winter below the Tropic of Capricorn and the 'dry season' above. Rather a cool day in Sydney but didn't reach zero centigrade.

Interest in China: We have always loved to travel and after our first trip to the Far East which included a fairly quick overview of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia as well as China and Japan, we decided to return to China. In the 1980's, mainland China had been open to American tourists for a very short time so we had an opportunity to explore a country relatively untouched by Western popular culture – relatively few hotels, no MacDonalds or Burger King at the time; no one selling trinkets at the Great Wall, people still wearing the drab Mao outfits
